Magnolia
by Patsi Hughes (C) Magnolia on 6/19/2008 10:42:41 AM

Magnolia

This is a watercolor I did a while back.
I started in watercolor and love the look, but I like more control, so I started with acrylic's and now oils.
Seems like I do things backwards. Lol.
But I will tell you in this desert and all the dry heat we have Magnolia Trees.
The neighbor next door to me has 3 right in the sun with the golf course behind. So there isn't much shade. I just watch them for about 2 1/2 months.
I think I like the Buds when they are full, right before opening.
I am working on about 4 oils right now. I think I am finally getting the hang of it. This waiting for it to dry is a bummer.
I am doing a show in Town Square on the 27th if its not too hot.Its tough in the summer here, but its in the shade and such a good place. Just a 5 hour show. Its a new shopping area and is "The Place" right now. Over 102 I won't do it.
I hope that you will visit all my web site, and remember I have giclee' prints of most my work.
Have  a wonderful day, and keep looking upwards.
I would love to hear from you, so please leave a comment.

  Patsi

I love this showy flower against the darken leaves. I have started growing a magnolia and it seems to dry out so quickly they say it must have lots of moisture. It's amazing how large magnolia flowers are. You certainly have captured it's beauty with it's purity. I just love your work.
